Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 3

So…I was in one of the beauty supply stores the other day, and what would I see but a gold chrome nail kit.  I…um also got myself a snazy new LED light (I swear to God this is a need and not a want, even if it makes me squee that I got it for half the price I was willing to pay, and it came with glitter…what???) and ordered a new brand of structure gel that cures in an LED (again, I need new structure gel and I figured I might as well go with the brand that I’ve heard nothing but good things about…so what if I geek out about it…) BUT I did not buy the chrome kit, nor did I get any of the color-changing gel polishes when I got the new structure gel…but I really wanted to!  I reminded myself that the chrome and the polishes were not Needs, they were Wants, and if I buy them now, I’ll be rewarding myself for nothing, since I’ve only been able to finish 2 days of writing prompts.

Yes, I realize I’m doing this one pretty late in the day.  It’s still Tuesday though! I got this!  Okay, so for those that don’t know what I’m talking about, I decided to do 30 days of writing prompts because I haven’t been successful in completing a single one of these challenges that I’ve set for myself for one reason or another, and I’m bound and determined to do it this time!  Last post I mentioned treating myself to something new and spiffy if I finish this challenge I’ve set for myself and I’m trying to stick to it! You can find the list HERE if you want to join in.  Today’s writing prompt is: What does Sunday feel like? Write a poem or paragraph (or whatever) that explains your opinion of and emotions felt for the seven separate days of the week. Are we ready boys and girls?  Let’s get started, shall we? Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 2

So, the last post was good for journal writing in it’s truest form. Not that I have anything against journal writing at all, but I love writing prompts that are more creative in their angle.  However, today is not quite that day. For those of you that have come to this post first, whether it be the first in my series of writing prompts or your first ever Ladybug blog post, I’m referring to a list of writing prompts I compiled from prompts I’d taken from all over the place.  You may even find some previously written into a much larger list that I never managed to finish in previous posts.  If you feel like you’d like to try my list out, you may find it here.  Want to see my other lists? You can locate them here.  You can also find the first post where I provide links to the sites I borrowed my initial prompts from here.

But anyway, the prompt is: Write for 10 minutes about a conflict that involves tulips in some way. This I can tell is going to take on more of an informative style than a story-like bent being that one of my many hats is as a florist.  That being said, I can tell where I’m going to take this prompt.  Okay everyone! Ten minutes on the clock…and…GO! Read more of this post

Two Months of Writing Prompts: Day Fifteen

Now, I don’t normally do this, but sometimes a writing prompt just fits with something I’m working on in story.  This is one of those cases, so you get a little bit of a sneak peak *rough and unedited* into Vertigo because today’s prompt is: I found the strangest thing in my pocket.  Since there’s nothing more to this prompt, I let it take me somewhere.  Enjoy! There Was a Storm in My Brain!

Today has been a productive day! I wanted to write more in the story that’s been occupying me, but then my brain went on a tangent instead, and I started coming up with different story ideas that may or may not be short stories, but either way could be made into books.  Then after three story ideas I thought, what about a flower themed book series.  I remember reading a series of books once that had flowers on the covers.  I couldn’t tell you what the significance of the flowers were to the stories, nor can I really remember the author, but I liked the idea of the flowers for the covers.  Then I remembered that there are flower names that double as baby names.  So I started compiling a list of names that worked that way, and chose seven, then things snowballed from there until my three story ideas were absorbed by the series!  It’s going to be a romance series, and I’m okay with that.  In fact, I’m ready to own my love of Romance.  So, you are warned what this is going to be about, and if you still want to know more of what I’ve been up to, read on! It’s A Sabotage

Haven’t posted in a bit.  Haven’t written in a bit.  I just can’t seem to get anything out when the opportunity presents itself.  It’s more than just that.  There’s actually a whole slew of reasons why my writing and bloging has gone on the wayside, and most are all my fault.  Procrastination is the name of the game, and being unproductive is the rule.  Slacker Cici has been in full tilt the past few months, but I swear, it hasn’t all been looking at memes and Facebook, though most of it has been my fault…all my fault! Belated for Valentine’s Day

I wanted to post a very special picture from a comic I follow.  I’d post a link but it is an adult web comic and I don’t want to offend anyone since there’s nakedness and sexual stuff…lots of sexual stuff.  Seriously, don’t search it out if any of that stuff in a comical environment offends you.  And if you’re under 18 because that’s just naughty!  But I did screen capture one of their posts with a convenient block out of the most “offensive” visual.  Still, I’m hiding it below my read more, because I’m a coward 😉 Enjoy! Updates, Cause I can (AKA: Bad Day Monday!)

Today’s is going to be a personal post.  I wanted to take a little break from teas, though I have several that I’ve already sampled and need to type up.  Still, I just wanted to talk about stuff this time.  There were a couple of points this month where I didn’t post when I said I’d try to post more, and I’ll get into that in a bit.  Basically this is my what’s been going on, what haven’t I been writing about that I said I would, etc. post.  Feel free to use this post as you alternative to Ambien.  I promise the only side effect is my tendency to have Zombie Dreams may be contagious over the net…I don’t know, but I thought it would be safe to put the warning out there. Provence Rooibos

“Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!” Yes, it was my love of Monte Python and that one line from The Holy Grail that decided which I would choose next.  I was going to choose between the chamomile or the green tea, but then I saw what was in the Provence Rooibos and I couldn’t deny it!  It’s also from the Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd. and it reads: Flavory with a floral and fruity bouquet; perfumy lavender notes.  Inspired by the ‘joie de vivre’ of France.  I find it funny that before really reading this bag of tea that I thought of a line from a French character, and the tea itself was inspired by a French expression.  The ingredients include rooibos (or a red tea leaf), elderberries, rosehip pieces, billberries, lavender blossoms, rose flowers, and natural flavors.

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 1

Okay, I’ve been seeing people on Facebook posting about what they are thankful for.  Apparently they’ve been at it for a few days.  I’m getting to it late, but I figure if I start count now I’ll be thankful beyond Thanksgiving!  And really, why does thankfulness have to be centered around one Holiday?  Especially one that should have been called, “Thankful the Natives saved our Asses so we could turn around and repay them by killing them off and stealing the land they lived on” Day.  I still celebrate, don’t get me wrong, but it is a crappy premiss for a holiday when you think about it.  Anyway, I do want to show what I’m thankful for, but not in a one sentence “here’s some kudos to this thing” type of way!  I’m going to devote an entire blog post to the person place or thing that I’m thankful for!  So here we go!  I’m thankful for… Read more of this post

Flowers…I am so sick of flowers!

Prom, confirmation and communion.  What do they all have in common?  They’re out there to work me into the dirt is what they have in common!  For every one of them I’ve had to make wrist corsages, pin-on corsages, specialty hair pieces, and boutonnieres.  Not only that, but mistakes find me either dismantling what I’ve done or redoing the entire work.  And guess what? Mother’s day is in a week!  Huray! Read more of this post
