Manic Monday: DIY Fountain and a Fractured Wrists!

Welcome to my first ever Manic Monday posting!  I thought I’d start us off with a nice DIY because I love doing crafty stuff like this so much!

As far as more ideas for finishing that off, you may want to wait until all the clay is dry again before using the silicone sealer since moisture can cause issue with it adhering to the surface.  But you didn’t come here for a craft project, did you?  Well… Read more of this post

WMHB Chapter 2: A.K.A. Show & Tell

When I originally started reviewing this chapter it took me several days to recover.  I am nothing if not a masochistic book reader, hence the category.  So, here I come back to inflict some more agony upon myself, and to share it with those of you willing to read my own personal tripe.  I mean, lets be honest, I’m criticizing her for the horrid work she published, but when will I ever put my money where my mouth is?  Hold that thought!

This one was tough to get through.  I mean I’m starting to think that it may take me more than a week to finish the next one, with how hard this one was.  Just a warning, your entertainment may not come every week on schedule.  Guess you’ll just have to enjoy my writing prompts instead.

Alright, alright.  I know what you are really here for!  Onward to literary torture!!!

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 8

Yes, this is coming late. I’ve been running around all day with my family and haven’t had time to post.  I’m here now though!  See!  See!  I’m posting!  Okay, so what do we have here for our post on this fine Easter Sunday??? Well crap…

Can you think of a time when something that was poorly written caused confusion or trouble for you? Write about the experience. If you can’t think of anything, make something up!

Um…I have and hour and a half to write on this one? I may be in trouble!  Not that I don’t know how to write, nor that I really have to dive deep into my imagination to dredge up a moment when this could have applied to me, since anyone that’s been paying any attention would know what book/s this dredges up for me to rant.  The problem is, can I stop my rant in time to post it?

Let’s see if I can do it, shall we? Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 6

I’ll start this post by wishing my older sister a happy birthday.  We may not talk, but she’s still my sister.  Funny how one decides to not talk to me, and the other comes back into my life.  Also, interestingly enough, today’s prompt is more of a thoughtful post as well, and will be more journal like. Instead of dwelling on the bullheadedness of the people I’m related to, I’m going to focus on today’s prompt which asks the question: Who do you want to be when you are 40? (Or 50 or 60, etc. if you are already 40) Read more of this post

WMHB Chapter 1: AKA Incompetent Scientist is Incompetent

So, I’ve come back to continue this book.  Do I dare remind everyone the last time I tried to read this, I’d gotten a migraine?  This time I’m fighting with neck pain, but that’s not related to this book.  It may make me a little more snarky though.  Now I know I said “Tune in next week” or some cheesy line to that effect, but I don’t know if I can, in fact get through a whole chapter in one week.  Sure, I can read it like Speedy Gonzales on crack but when it comes to writing a commentary, there are going to be chapters where it will seem like every single sentence is something to scoff at.  Don’t believe me? Wait till chapter 2…trust me!  So if I don’t update this every week, you’ll know why.

I would like to point out that this is not, in fact the worst thing I’ve read.  It’s damn close though!  Anyway, I know what you really want is to find out how we go from modern day to Tombstone, Arizona.  Patience, we’ll get there sooner than you can say “drunk scientist”!

…I realize there are a few smart asses out there that just said “drunk scientist” to prove that statement wrong.  To you fine people, I have but one reply…

😛

ON TO CHAPTER ONE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Meaty Reads! This One’s Short, but the Book Isn’t!

I started reading from a trilogy by Jacqueline Carey .  The first book in this trilogy is called Kushiel’s Scion.  Technically it is actually a series and this particular book is number four in it, but the books before this one were centered around Phedre, and the next three have Imriel as the main character.  I’m still on the first book, and it’s quite meaty.  I usually eat up books, but this one is so large it’s taking me several days to read through it, that and life does demand I pull away for a while and do stuff.  If you’re interested in checking them out, I would greatly recommend you start with Kushiel’s Dart.  They are all mostly stand alone books, however there is so much in the other books and you get to fall in love with characters in all of them.  Of course I always suggest you start from the beginning of a series nine times out of ten, but I’m a lover of the background and growth of characters.  I will warn you though, Jacqueline Carey is an in depth writer, and her books are extremely hefty!

Updates, Cause I can (AKA: Bad Day Monday!)

Today’s is going to be a personal post.  I wanted to take a little break from teas, though I have several that I’ve already sampled and need to type up.  Still, I just wanted to talk about stuff this time.  There were a couple of points this month where I didn’t post when I said I’d try to post more, and I’ll get into that in a bit.  Basically this is my what’s been going on, what haven’t I been writing about that I said I would, etc. post.  Feel free to use this post as you alternative to Ambien.  I promise the only side effect is my tendency to have Zombie Dreams may be contagious over the net…I don’t know, but I thought it would be safe to put the warning out there. Automatic Disqualification for Sainthood.

I read an article Wednesday about a letter that was found defending one of the more prominent Catholic Priests that preyed on young boys, written by another clergy member.  Not surprising was that the author had more concern for the church’s reputation than the victims and was pushing for the priest to be brought back to work with families and spread the word of God.  Not surprising, until you look at the details and realize that the letter, which was not signed, still contains details that point to the identity of the author being none other than Mother Teresa.
