My Mother’s Day Gift to Myself

Okay, I’m a florist.  As a florist, some days and the days leading up to them are especially busy.  Mother’s Day is one of those days, and I have been trying desperately to keep ahead of that day to my best ability.  That said, it has left me with very little time to devote to the blog, so I’m letting myself off the hook…for now.  I am forgiving myself for slacking, just this once, whether you do or not is up to you guys, but I promise to be back and posting on the next Manic Monday.  Until then, please enjoy a little of my favorite violinist in one of my favorites of her songs, Shadows.

Check out some of her other stuff too! She’s really quite talented and fun to watch!

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 6

I’ll start this post by wishing my older sister a happy birthday.  We may not talk, but she’s still my sister.  Funny how one decides to not talk to me, and the other comes back into my life.  Also, interestingly enough, today’s prompt is more of a thoughtful post as well, and will be more journal like. Instead of dwelling on the bullheadedness of the people I’m related to, I’m going to focus on today’s prompt which asks the question: Who do you want to be when you are 40? (Or 50 or 60, etc. if you are already 40) Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 3

So…I was in one of the beauty supply stores the other day, and what would I see but a gold chrome nail kit.  I…um also got myself a snazy new LED light (I swear to God this is a need and not a want, even if it makes me squee that I got it for half the price I was willing to pay, and it came with glitter…what???) and ordered a new brand of structure gel that cures in an LED (again, I need new structure gel and I figured I might as well go with the brand that I’ve heard nothing but good things about…so what if I geek out about it…) BUT I did not buy the chrome kit, nor did I get any of the color-changing gel polishes when I got the new structure gel…but I really wanted to!  I reminded myself that the chrome and the polishes were not Needs, they were Wants, and if I buy them now, I’ll be rewarding myself for nothing, since I’ve only been able to finish 2 days of writing prompts.

Yes, I realize I’m doing this one pretty late in the day.  It’s still Tuesday though! I got this!  Okay, so for those that don’t know what I’m talking about, I decided to do 30 days of writing prompts because I haven’t been successful in completing a single one of these challenges that I’ve set for myself for one reason or another, and I’m bound and determined to do it this time!  Last post I mentioned treating myself to something new and spiffy if I finish this challenge I’ve set for myself and I’m trying to stick to it! You can find the list HERE if you want to join in.  Today’s writing prompt is: What does Sunday feel like? Write a poem or paragraph (or whatever) that explains your opinion of and emotions felt for the seven separate days of the week. Are we ready boys and girls?  Let’s get started, shall we? Belated for Valentine’s Day

I wanted to post a very special picture from a comic I follow.  I’d post a link but it is an adult web comic and I don’t want to offend anyone since there’s nakedness and sexual stuff…lots of sexual stuff.  Seriously, don’t search it out if any of that stuff in a comical environment offends you.  And if you’re under 18 because that’s just naughty!  But I did screen capture one of their posts with a convenient block out of the most “offensive” visual.  Still, I’m hiding it below my read more, because I’m a coward 😉 Enjoy! Japan Genmaicha Yamasaki

My next tea that I’ll be reviewing from the samples given to the Garner Greenhouse by the Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd. is called Japan Genmaicha Yamasaki.  The package reads: Light golden yellow liquor with a unique toasty rice flavor tending sweet.  A tea that creates a conversation.  Luxury Ingredients: Green Tea.

That’s hardly teaser enough, but I’ve only got a little time before bed, so it’ll have to do.  Salad Fork! Read more of this post

Updates, Cause I can (AKA: Bad Day Monday!)

Today’s is going to be a personal post.  I wanted to take a little break from teas, though I have several that I’ve already sampled and need to type up.  Still, I just wanted to talk about stuff this time.  There were a couple of points this month where I didn’t post when I said I’d try to post more, and I’ll get into that in a bit.  Basically this is my what’s been going on, what haven’t I been writing about that I said I would, etc. post.  Feel free to use this post as you alternative to Ambien.  I promise the only side effect is my tendency to have Zombie Dreams may be contagious over the net…I don’t know, but I thought it would be safe to put the warning out there. Pai Mu Tan

Pai mu tan is the next tea I will review from the many samples we at the Garner Greenhouse received from the Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd. The package reads: A white tea offering jammy flavor with sweet notes and a delicious lingering finish.  Good body with a satisfying cup.  The Luxury ingredients are White tea.

And now my opinion, such as it is…

Provence Rooibos

“Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!” Yes, it was my love of Monte Python and that one line from The Holy Grail that decided which I would choose next.  I was going to choose between the chamomile or the green tea, but then I saw what was in the Provence Rooibos and I couldn’t deny it!  It’s also from the Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd. and it reads: Flavory with a floral and fruity bouquet; perfumy lavender notes.  Inspired by the ‘joie de vivre’ of France.  I find it funny that before really reading this bag of tea that I thought of a line from a French character, and the tea itself was inspired by a French expression.  The ingredients include rooibos (or a red tea leaf), elderberries, rosehip pieces, billberries, lavender blossoms, rose flowers, and natural flavors.

Lapsang Souchong Butterfly #1

Surprise!  I’ve come back to give you a Coffeelog, although I have to admit, it’s not a coffee variety I’m reviewing, but a tea variety from the Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd called Lapsang Souchong Butterfly #1.  The package reads: A superior leaf lapsang souchong offers a crisp character with the remarkable and heady aroma of an oak fire.  It’s a black tea, and part of a package of free tea samples we received at the Greenhouse to decide on what new varieties we’d like to start carrying at the shop.  So, I haven’t been given money, and we may not actually start carrying this variety, though with a name like that, how could you not?  By the way, I was thinking of trying this one first but what cinched the deal was my toddler trying to help mommy by opening the package for me.  Well, then… Read more of this post

Sad Times Indeed

It’s time for another blog.  I’m going to talk shop.  And when I say shop, I mean the greenhouse, and making flower arrangements. Read more of this post
