Teaser Tuesday: Vertigo

So, here is just the very beginning of Vertigo for my teaser Tuesday.  I’ve posted a little bit of Vertigo here, though it’s so scattered you’d best read from the bottom up, also it’s password protected, so good luck getting into that one for now *winks*.  I also used it to write a previous writing prompt about something it a person’s pocket.  I would have done some more of 1NS if it were longer, but alas it is nearly complete, and I have to leave something for the final product.  There’s nothing naughty in this little bit I’m giving you, although like most of my work it will involve some in later bits.  After 1NS this is the next story I’m looking to finish up.  As far as stories go, they are both pretty short, I think.  So, if I can’t get them to go seperately because of length I’ll try putting them together with possibly a third story.  We shall see.  For now, enjoy a little teaser of Vertigo. Manic Monday: DIY Fountain and a Fractured Wrists!

Welcome to my first ever Manic Monday posting!  I thought I’d start us off with a nice DIY because I love doing crafty stuff like this so much!

As far as more ideas for finishing that off, you may want to wait until all the clay is dry again before using the silicone sealer since moisture can cause issue with it adhering to the surface.  But you didn’t come here for a craft project, did you?  Well… Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 12

My husband and I left for our postponed (by 11 years) honeymoon when I posted my last writing prompt.  I had intended on posting them with my phone while I was out of state, but it just didn’t end up happening that way.  Then this last week was spent getting my husband and oldest son ready for a trip to D.C. So I ended up not getting any of it done and only just barely got a post out on WMHB.  That said, this prompt is quite late, and I failed to do a prompt a day like I kept telling myself I was going to.  No chrome pigment powders for me!  That said, I’m penalizing myself.  After I finish all 30 prompts, I’m doing 11 extra so that I will have an unbroken 30 days of writing.  I’m doing this for me and not for sparkly glitters.

Just as a side note before I write on this prompt, I broke down and bought an adult coloring book.  I was at Target with my husband and two kinds, and the check-out register had coupons for Papermate products that featured two colorable sides.  Next day, I went to Dollar Tree and found two small adult coloring books that caught my eye, so I’m going to use it for therapy because I think I’ve been letting things get me too wound up and I do find coloring to be calming.  I was about to buy some coloring pencils for them as well when I remembered the art kit someone bought me one Christmas that I still have.  The only downside to them is that I’m still finding is that the sticks of color are easily broken when I sharpen the pencils, so I end up with a lot of wasted pencil.  Oh well, better than never using them at all right?  That would be a lot of wasted pencil!

Enough about my coloring escapades! You want writing and if I go to Facebook one more time, I’ll never get this post done!

Our writing prompt for today could be somewhat of a lengthy one, but I’ll try not to drag it out too long. As always feel free to follow along.  The writing prompt is: Who have you forgotten about until right now? Think hard and list five people from your past that you really should have written something about by now but haven’t. Circle the name of the person who stands out the strongest. Write a description or brief memoir of that person.

I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to start this, but I’ll give it my absolute best. Also the person I’m going to write about will be highlighted in red.  Let’s get started shall we? Read more of this post

WMHB Chapter 2: A.K.A. Show & Tell

When I originally started reviewing this chapter it took me several days to recover.  I am nothing if not a masochistic book reader, hence the category.  So, here I come back to inflict some more agony upon myself, and to share it with those of you willing to read my own personal tripe.  I mean, lets be honest, I’m criticizing her for the horrid work she published, but when will I ever put my money where my mouth is?  Hold that thought!

This one was tough to get through.  I mean I’m starting to think that it may take me more than a week to finish the next one, with how hard this one was.  Just a warning, your entertainment may not come every week on schedule.  Guess you’ll just have to enjoy my writing prompts instead.

Alright, alright.  I know what you are really here for!  Onward to literary torture!!!

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 10

So, how bout that major sports team? Heard they’re not doing so major this year.

Seriously though, sometimes I don’t even know how to take my own writing.  1NS is like a fevered dream.  Quick and dangerously hot, but now that I’m nearly done with it I’m feeling a little disappointed.  It’s just so short, and I want there to be more of it!  I did finish writing up what I had on paper and transferring it onto the computer last night, so I’m one more step towards that final goal.  There’s one part in it that needs a little more writing to connect the pieces together, and then I just need to finish out the ending.  Page count on my Open Office program as it stands has it at thirteen pages with size twelve Times New Roman font.  So, maybe I’ll end up with twenty to twenty-tree pages?  Since I’m going to try to market it, I might not post the ending here.  I’m still debating on that.  I mean on one hand I’m not sure if I’d have enough pages to market it at all, and in that case I’ll have to bust my hump to finish off Vertigo since it’s the next closest to completion and then maybe another short story that I’ll write and try to sell them all together as a small short story collection?  I guess we’ll see.  If I do have enough content to put 1NS out there alone, then I won’t have to worry about all that.  Besides, I’ll want to let it sit a little, then go back at it with my Little Editor Beth who I kept back with a choke-collar to keep her from stopping my forward momentum.

Well, now that I’ve got that out of my system lets get on to a writing prompt, shall we?  So, what do we have for us today? Day 10 is: What was your favorite childhood toy? *blinks* nope! that’s not awkward at all!  Ah well! Let’s get started, shall we? Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 9

I’ve got to keep on top of these posts better! Too many have gotten close to midnight for me *cough* and I want to really treat myself to something special when I finish this.  More importantly though, I want to keep myself in the habit of writing every day.  I want to keep my mental muscles flexing so that the chance of getting stuck for long periods of time becomes smaller.

For anyone just coming to this blog.  I am taking my prompts from a list I made from previous prompt lists and from around the net.  You can find it here if you want to try them out yourself.  I would challenge you to try doing one a day for a month straight.  Let me tell you, it’s a challenge for someone who hasn’t made it a habit yet.

Today’s prompt is Write as if you are observing a celebration involving an original female character of your making.  So, we’re back to writing scenes.  I have a good one in mind, so I’ll just get right to it!  Let’s get started, shall we? Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 6

I’ll start this post by wishing my older sister a happy birthday.  We may not talk, but she’s still my sister.  Funny how one decides to not talk to me, and the other comes back into my life.  Also, interestingly enough, today’s prompt is more of a thoughtful post as well, and will be more journal like. Instead of dwelling on the bullheadedness of the people I’m related to, I’m going to focus on today’s prompt which asks the question: Who do you want to be when you are 40? (Or 50 or 60, etc. if you are already 40) Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 5

I just realized that though I wrote this one by hand, I never actually got it onto wordpress.  Well here I go, posting it quick to keep myself from defaulting on my own word.  Once more with feeling prompts day five is: Begin with “Today I will…” and write for ten minutes. Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 3

So…I was in one of the beauty supply stores the other day, and what would I see but a gold chrome nail kit.  I…um also got myself a snazy new LED light (I swear to God this is a need and not a want, even if it makes me squee that I got it for half the price I was willing to pay, and it came with glitter…what???) and ordered a new brand of structure gel that cures in an LED (again, I need new structure gel and I figured I might as well go with the brand that I’ve heard nothing but good things about…so what if I geek out about it…) BUT I did not buy the chrome kit, nor did I get any of the color-changing gel polishes when I got the new structure gel…but I really wanted to!  I reminded myself that the chrome and the polishes were not Needs, they were Wants, and if I buy them now, I’ll be rewarding myself for nothing, since I’ve only been able to finish 2 days of writing prompts.

Yes, I realize I’m doing this one pretty late in the day.  It’s still Tuesday though! I got this!  Okay, so for those that don’t know what I’m talking about, I decided to do 30 days of writing prompts because I haven’t been successful in completing a single one of these challenges that I’ve set for myself for one reason or another, and I’m bound and determined to do it this time!  Last post I mentioned treating myself to something new and spiffy if I finish this challenge I’ve set for myself and I’m trying to stick to it! You can find the list HERE if you want to join in.  Today’s writing prompt is: What does Sunday feel like? Write a poem or paragraph (or whatever) that explains your opinion of and emotions felt for the seven separate days of the week. Are we ready boys and girls?  Let’s get started, shall we? Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 2

So, the last post was good for journal writing in it’s truest form. Not that I have anything against journal writing at all, but I love writing prompts that are more creative in their angle.  However, today is not quite that day. For those of you that have come to this post first, whether it be the first in my series of writing prompts or your first ever Ladybug blog post, I’m referring to a list of writing prompts I compiled from prompts I’d taken from all over the place.  You may even find some previously written into a much larger list that I never managed to finish in previous posts.  If you feel like you’d like to try my list out, you may find it here.  Want to see my other lists? You can locate them here.  You can also find the first post where I provide links to the sites I borrowed my initial prompts from here.

But anyway, the prompt is: Write for 10 minutes about a conflict that involves tulips in some way. This I can tell is going to take on more of an informative style than a story-like bent being that one of my many hats is as a florist.  That being said, I can tell where I’m going to take this prompt.  Okay everyone! Ten minutes on the clock…and…GO! Read more of this post
