Teaser Tuesday: Vertigo

So, here is just the very beginning of Vertigo for my teaser Tuesday.  I’ve posted a little bit of Vertigo here, though it’s so scattered you’d best read from the bottom up, also it’s password protected, so good luck getting into that one for now *winks*.  I also used it to write a previous writing prompt about something it a person’s pocket.  I would have done some more of 1NS if it were longer, but alas it is nearly complete, and I have to leave something for the final product.  There’s nothing naughty in this little bit I’m giving you, although like most of my work it will involve some in later bits.  After 1NS this is the next story I’m looking to finish up.  As far as stories go, they are both pretty short, I think.  So, if I can’t get them to go seperately because of length I’ll try putting them together with possibly a third story.  We shall see.  For now, enjoy a little teaser of Vertigo. Rewarding Loyalty2: 1NS

***MAJOR DISCLAIMER*** What you are about to read is the continuation of 1NS pt.1 that I wrote and posted over a year ago.  I found the pieces of it and am completing it as we speak.  This is not appropriate reading material for anyone under the age of 18!  Some inappropriate language is used, and depictions of explicit sexual activities between two relative strangers occur in a semi public place.  This is a work of fiction, a bit of fantasy if you will, and as such should be taken with a grain of salt.  I do realize it will not be everyone’s cup of tea, if this is the case, turn away now before your minds are corrupted!  By pressing the read more button, and or continuing to read this post you are agreeing to the fact that you are indeed over the age of 18 and not easily offended by any of the above mentioned things therefore waving all right to complain and or get angry.

Thank you all, and enjoy!

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 9

I’ve got to keep on top of these posts better! Too many have gotten close to midnight for me *cough* and I want to really treat myself to something special when I finish this.  More importantly though, I want to keep myself in the habit of writing every day.  I want to keep my mental muscles flexing so that the chance of getting stuck for long periods of time becomes smaller.

For anyone just coming to this blog.  I am taking my prompts from a list I made from previous prompt lists and from around the net.  You can find it here if you want to try them out yourself.  I would challenge you to try doing one a day for a month straight.  Let me tell you, it’s a challenge for someone who hasn’t made it a habit yet.

Today’s prompt is Write as if you are observing a celebration involving an original female character of your making.  So, we’re back to writing scenes.  I have a good one in mind, so I’ll just get right to it!  Let’s get started, shall we? Read more of this post

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 5

I just realized that though I wrote this one by hand, I never actually got it onto wordpress.  Well here I go, posting it quick to keep myself from defaulting on my own word.  Once more with feeling prompts day five is: Begin with “Today I will…” and write for ten minutes. Read more of this post

WMHB Chapter 1: AKA Incompetent Scientist is Incompetent

So, I’ve come back to continue this book.  Do I dare remind everyone the last time I tried to read this, I’d gotten a migraine?  This time I’m fighting with neck pain, but that’s not related to this book.  It may make me a little more snarky though.  Now I know I said “Tune in next week” or some cheesy line to that effect, but I don’t know if I can, in fact get through a whole chapter in one week.  Sure, I can read it like Speedy Gonzales on crack but when it comes to writing a commentary, there are going to be chapters where it will seem like every single sentence is something to scoff at.  Don’t believe me? Wait till chapter 2…trust me!  So if I don’t update this every week, you’ll know why.

I would like to point out that this is not, in fact the worst thing I’ve read.  It’s damn close though!  Anyway, I know what you really want is to find out how we go from modern day to Tombstone, Arizona.  Patience, we’ll get there sooner than you can say “drunk scientist”!

…I realize there are a few smart asses out there that just said “drunk scientist” to prove that statement wrong.  To you fine people, I have but one reply…

😛

ON TO CHAPTER ONE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Once More With Feeling Writing Prompts: Day 1

Okay, I intended on doing this yesterday, but I got distracted by the creation of my new wire wrapped ring similar to my once beloved itchy ring.  I can’t say that it has the sharp wire ends that make my finger want to move, and it’s too new to know whether or not it will help in my writing right now.  Because it’s smoother than it’s predecessor, calling it an itchy ring seems wrong.  However, if it proves to be a success, then I’ll try and come up with some sort of fitting name for it like Inpirering or my Ladymuse..now that i think of it, Inspirering is sort of puny! Yep, I think that shall be it’s name.

This first go, I’m actually pulling out almost all the stops at the moment.  I have Pandora playing a Lindsey Stirling channel, because she’s awesome with a violin and anything related to that sounds pretty awesome! I also have the ring on, just to try it out.  There’s a cup of Highlander Grog flavored coffee in my Death Star shaped coffee mug, and I just lit a Stirling Embers scented Wood Wick candle.  Now that I actually think about it, I’ve realized I’m engaging most of my major senses: touch, taste, scent, and sound!  Can’t engage visual beyond watching what I’m thinking turn into words on a screen, but I guess my recent de-cluttering of my desk could be considered that.  Not that it’s perfectly clear or anything, but I’m not worrying about a mountain of paper causing an avalanche in my lap!

Okay, so adventures in amateur jewelry making and attempts at getting myself motivated aside, I was going to work on one of my writing prompts.  Just got to keep on myself this time!  How about, if I can make it through all 30 days of prompts on time then I can treat myself to a special nail polish I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise, a chrome powder to extend my collection beyond silver chrome, or some equally extravagant seeming nail art themed item that I’ve been holding myself back from purchasing because it’s more of a want than a need.  Yes, let’s hold Cici to this and tell her she can’t get the thing unless she does this other thing!

We shall see…Well anyway, as it is day one, we are starting with the first one: Why did you start your writing? Is that still why you write, or has your writing gone in a different direction than you’d planned? No limits on time taken to write this, nor is there a min or max word count, so I’m just going to fly with this one and when I feel I’ve said what I need to I’m going to call it a day and send you all a mental blow-kiss! Writing Prompts…Once More With Feeling!

Alright, I know I tried this before, but I mean it this time!  My blog had far too little love last year (and the year before that…and kinda the year before that…), and I’m determined to do it this time!  I’m going to select 30 new prompts (except for the prompts I really love!) and am sticking to it this time! I swear!  This is the list of  prompts that I’m going to use for my Month of Writing Prompts…Once More With Feeling! Feel free to join me and send me a link to your work in the comments!  Or not…entirely up to you!

So, without further adeu, the list of prompts!

WMHB Prologue: A.K.A. Trapped Inside Main Character’s Head…Help!

I was inspired by blogger Jenny Trout who reviewed the 50 Shades Novels.  She posted reviews of each individual chapter with loving snark that brought me to tears with laughter.  It couldn’t have been easy.  I’ve given myself migraines trying to read a really bad book, so I commend her for sticking to the project even when it was obviously painful to do.  She took something utterly horrid, and made something beautiful with it!  It’s because of her that I’m writing this now.  Remember that book that gave me a migraine?  Well I’m giving it to you.  Not all of it, but a general feel for what happens and my personal two-cents on them.  It’s somewhat in the same style as Jenny, with a few quotes and passages from the book itself.  Anything in red italics is a direct quote from the book and is not my own wording.  As a side note the book is only ever going to be referred to as WMHB, (link to a little synopsis of said book there) and the only names I’m going to use are the ones for the historical characters, as everyone else could be called anything under the sun and it wouldn’t change a damn thing.

Why am I doing this?  I just can’t stop myself.  The premise was so promising, and it got ruined so terribly by the author’s own vanity.  If they had just edited, and proofread and edited some more then maybe it would have been enjoyable and I could gladly give them kudos for a job well done.  But I can’t.  I could say congrats on finishing a story, but then I’d feel like I was giving them a participation trophy.  Honestly, there really should have been someone to point out that it needed quite a bit of polish before going out.  Really, they should have.

But all that aside, I also wanted to do this to see if there was a way to salvage it.  I wanted to see if, chapter by chapter, there was any saving it in the first place.  I mean, I can say that with editing it could have been good, but just how much editing would have had to happen?  Would the story even be recognizable in the end?  I post the question to you as I sort of pick it apart here.  What do you think? Will you join me on this journey into literary torture? If you’re still here, I have my answer.  Onward!

Also, in an effort of full disclosure, I was given a free copy by a friend, for an honest review.  Also, to show that I’m not just picking and choosing sentences that have problems, I provide the first paragraph of each chapter to you for free. You’re welcome. Read more of this post

Divinity Games: Shirt-bound

Not exactly sure what chapter this is yet, but it must be made digital, because I’m not going to loose this scene.  I’ve been sitting with this in my Drafts for forever and decided I needed to air it out.  I’m even going to take the password off of it for a little while *gasp!*.  Warning, it does have some sexual themes in it that are not appropriate for anyone under the age of eighteen (or whatever age is appropriate for those things. Use your good judgment.) If you are offended by those types of things, I would suggest you not read this.  You have been warned. Read more of this post

Printer Error

It’s prose, and not an actual story about my printer.  Just something I thought of while I was at work one day in December, and am just getting around to putting it down.

I don’t even own a printer… Read more of this post
